When MIT’s The GenAI Divide report dropped, the headline “95% of generative AI pilots fail” spread faster than holiday gossip. It was a lump of coal for the market, but for those of us deep in the industry, it wasn't a prophecy, it was a warning
I was discussing this report at length over dinner with a customer recently. We looked past the sensational headline to unwrap the real gift inside the data: purchased AI solutions succeed about 67% of the time, compared with only 33% for internal builds.
Why are internal builds underperforming so often? It isn't because the code is bad. It’s because of three "silent killers" that act like the Grinch, stealing the success of your project before it sees the New Year.
